Ok, Christmas is over but maybe one of your friends has his/her birthday, or, you just want to get this for yourself. QR Codes might be all the rage (or not) for advertising and marketing in your country but here is something special for geeks: the QR Code Space Invaders t-shirt, available at threadless.

What is a QR Code? (Wikipedia)

A QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response code) is a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code) first designed for the automotive industry. More recently, the system has become popular outside of the industry due to its fast readability and comparatively large storage capacity. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background.

Following up on the older Dove advertisement from a couple of years ago here is an even greater, unreal and brilliant example of society’s standards of beauty. The commercial, created by filmmaker Jesse Rosten, cleverly satirizes the beauty and fashion industry and since it’s so professionally made it could even run on tv and probably a lot of people not into graphics would believe it.

H&M’s Model Photos Have Fake Body And Real Head

Even though this doesn’t surprise me, after having read various stories and seen fake photos within the fashion industry, this is somewhat the biggest scam so far. H&M has admitted that model photos on their website are computer-generated and completely virtual. H&M designs a body that can display clothes made for humans, then dresses it by drawing on its clothes and pastes the heads of real women onto it. We’ll probably see fake faces in the future since they are imperfect too. [Aftonbladet]

I got an e-mail the other day from a friendly guy called Philippe Hadey who created his own shoe brand after watching a Bruce Lee Movie: Bagua Shoes. Mixing old and new myths, the Bagua mission is to create stylish shoes encouraging long walks and profound thoughts. The name itself, derived from Ba gua, translates as “eight divine symbols,” reflected by the octagon diagram which represents a series of eight interrelated concepts.
