Ok, Christmas is over but maybe one of your friends has his/her birthday, or, you just want to get this for yourself. QR Codes might be all the rage (or not) for advertising and marketing in your country but here is something special for geeks: the QR Code Space Invaders t-shirt, available at threadless.
QR Code Space Invaders Shirt
Fotoshop by Adobé. Brilliant!
Following up on the older Dove advertisement from a couple of years ago here is an even greater, unreal and brilliant example of society’s standards of beauty. The commercial, created by filmmaker Jesse Rosten, cleverly satirizes the beauty and fashion industry and since it’s so professionally made it could even run on tv and probably a lot of people not into graphics would believe it.

Stylish STABILO Store In Vienna
I’m spending Christmas holidays in my hometown Vienna, Austria where I spotted a new and stylish store by pen supplier STABILO. It’s the brand’s first flagship store and the architects have done a great job reconstructing a former jewellery shop. The store has the typical color-pen shape and even the entrance door makes you recognize their pens. I love those little details and people taking care of them.
When Branding Advice Goes Bad

Interruption Marketing aka Twitter Spam
I keep on receiving more and more unsolicited replies from people I don’t even know, and, this happens every day. Next to the popular and over-used tumblr spam this is another big thing: twitter spam. Apparently it also goes by the inflated name Interruption Marketing. Is this the modern “Xanax Spam 2.0″!? I think twitter should create some sort of public reply protection which gets into action when accounts mass-spam people in a short period of time. Read
London Tube Map Built With Drinking Straws
How cool is that!? Brighton-based artist Kyle Bean built the London tube map solely with drinking straws, more specifically Zone One of London’s underground system. Recreating a company’s logo using drinking straws would also be pretty cool. What do you think? More pictures after the click. Read
Let It Snow, Google

Google’s got a creative and tricky search result once again. After “tilt” or “do a barrel roll” it’s now “let it snow”. People who aren’t celebrating christmas can type in “hannukah”. Google started with those tricks some time ago but since new web technologies emerged and still continue to do so they not only pimp their doodles but also create better and better search results. Good Content Trumps SEO Says Matt Cutts
Matt Cutts from Google has been asked if Google would favor sites that are built following SEO Best Practice techniques, and, that there must be many technically poor sites that actually have fantastic content which shouldn’t be penalised. His answer:
Best Pivots in Business: Did you know Berkshire Hathaway was into Textiles?
There is an interesting discussion and outcome at Quora: users were asked what they find the best pivots in business.
Did you know that Berkshire Hathaway produced Textiles before getting into the private equity business? Or Sony producing Rice cookers before conquering and (at least partially) losing the electronics world? Check out the answers and Nokia shoes from 1936… Read
Coffee Branding. Literally. One Audi Capuccino Please.
I spotted this on a facebook profile so I don’t know whether it’s taken at Audi’s headquarters or another place. What is sure though is this brew of capuccino has a tiny but cool detail for spreading the brand and making it stand out. (It has a little blemish but anyway…)
This would also work nicely for other “simpler” logos like McDonald’s, Apple, etc. even though Starbucks should probably bring it to the masses :) Read
