La Caixa Logo And The Painter Miró

September 22nd, 2006

I just found out that the third biggest bank of Spain, La Caixa, keeps it like Chupa Chups with Salvador Dali. In 1980 the spanish savings institute took a painting by Joan Miró as basis for its logo: a blue star, a yellow and red dot.
I’m wondering if there are even more artists, painters and the likes who inspire or create logos for companies!?

BI is not dead! Stay tuned for updates

June 21st, 2006

Thanks for the many (positive) e-mails!

To tell you straight away: Brand Infection is not dead.

It’s just that I’ve moved into an apartment without internet (no DSL and not even telephone modem), had private troubles and couldn’t post new articles.

Nevertheless I’ve been working offline on a new version with a lot of cool features, released july:

  • New Frontpage for a better overview
  • Better & extended search functionality
  • 3 new wonderful site-colors (green, blue, khaki)
  • WAP-Version for your mobile phone
  • Forum for discussing the latest and greatest
  • Add your brand
  • … and more

Please keep your faith in this project, support and kind words.

Thanks, Nader

Rrrring. Pick Up Mouse. Hello?

March 27th, 2006
Sony VAIO VN-CX1 - Mouse VoIP Phone

Funky, dumb, cool(?) gadget by Sony in cooperation with Skype: a mouse-phone, eh phone-mouse, hm.

The Sony VAIO VN-CX1 functions just like any optical mouse, but when you press a small button on the side it transforms into a VoIP phone. Unfortunately not wireless, not that cheap (83$) but maybe still handy.

Why have 2 devices when you can have 1?
Because I don’t want to be tied to my PC? :-)

Study Finds Spam Relevant

March 11th, 2006

Adotas.com: A report by Epsilon Interactive, the company which recently announced plans to acquire DoubleClick Email Solutions, and the GfK Group found that 58% of the 584 U.S. respondents “agreed that e-mail they receive is usually targeted to their need and interests,” representing a 5% increase from over a year ago.

Looking at my inbox again I found 3216 items since 12th December 2005 with “targeted e-mails” like

  • Effortless Pharmaceutika
  • jvhiup and qe (aha, i see)
  • Re: nader (yes, my name is nader)
  • Stronger, more powerful climaxes (the usual)
  • bigger? my my!
  • Tree-Trunk Men Massive Action Bonus nader! (wow, once again my name. they must have very intelligent spam software)

Who the hell are those 58% and is a measurement with only 580 respondents valuable for the US? No.

Remember the letter, advertising a telephone provider, written in Arabic!?

Branded Eggs

March 6th, 2006

It had to happen. Soon after writing about logos on chocolate I found EggFusion, a company producing branded eggs. Marketers will pay for On-Egg messaging in order to put their logo and farmers will get more profit as they get paid per egg. On the website it says: “In exchange for enabling this services, EggFusion will share a percentage of revenue generated from both services with you”

Clever but a bit funny. I’m wondering if farmers are modern enough to integrate this process in their production.

Branded Eggs - EggFusion

Next one is advertising on toilet paper :-)

Incredible Street Art for Coca-Cola

February 18th, 2006

Normally I only see street-artists when going to touristy places and usually they only draw pictures of antique, barock or simply put boring remakes of ancient art.

Not this guy who created an amazingly realistic looking Coca-Cola bottle in 3D, only with his crayons. Wow!

Yahoo! Vs. Google Stock

February 9th, 2006

Interesting article on Forbes Magazine about why Merill Lynch prefers Yahoo! over Google as long-term pick.

The analyst said Google generates almost all revenue from search ads, the fastest-growing Internet sales category, while 82% of Yahoo! sales come from a blend of online marketing services with the rest from user fees.

Disclaimer: I don’t own any Google or Yahoo stock but maybe I should buy some Yahoo. Google seems to come further down for the moment

Europeans spend more and more time online

February 2nd, 2006

According to a new research by the European Interactive Advertising Bureau, the average European internet user spends 10 hours and 15 minutes online a week; a 17 per cent rise on 2004 and a 56 per cent rise on 2003. As reported on Revolution, With the exception of early mornings (6am to 10am), the internet is the second most-used medium throughout the rest of the day. The research also found blogging is becoming more popular, with 13 per cent of European users regularly contributing to online blogging sites.

I am not surprised when I look at TV shows, “outdated” print news and popular radio.

Better Search

January 3rd, 2006

I had some time over the holidays to dramatically improve the search functionality. Next to searching for blog entries you will now see results for brands and ads too.

Have a go on Coca-Cola, Bisley, the Axe Effect, … or some Ad Videos
