In 1918, the passionate 17-year old Charles "Chuck" Taylor begins his career as a professional basketball player and buys his first pair of the revolutionary Converse All Star shoes. Inspired by the shoes, Chuck Taylor goes to the Chicago Converse sales office with some inventive ideas. His innovations include an improved tread to provide more traction, and the addition of a patch around the ankle to support and protect the ankles of players who are starting to move and cut much faster. These ideas impress company leaders and would soon change the game of basketball forever - the era of the "Fast Break" begins.
